The Support Station offers a range of psychotherapy and counseling services designed to support individuals in navigating life's challenges.
We provide evidence-based approaches such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution focused brief therapy (SFBT), and mindfulness-based strategies to address concerns including anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, grief, substance use, addiction, and life transitions.
Our services are tailored to each client's unique needs, fostering a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment that encourages growth, healing, and resilience. Whether clients are seeking short-term counseling or longer-term therapy, we are committed to helping them build coping skills. strengthen relationships and improve overall well-being.
Currently, The Support Station services are offered solely through the organization's owner and director, Janalyn M. Dodds, MSW, BSW, RSW.
Janalyn's educational background spanned an impressive seven years in which she obtained two college diplomas from Fleming College in Peterborough. ON- one in Social Services, the other in Mental Health & Addictions. She was then accepted into the Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) program offered through Trent University- a program that is notoriously difficult to gain acceptance in as the program permits only 30 students to enroll each year. Lastly, Janalyn attended the University of Waterloo where she obtained her Master's degree in the field of Social Work (MSW).
Janalyn is a Registered Social Worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). She obtained her certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) through Wilfred Laurier University and is continuously seeking to expand her existing knowledge and abilities.
In spring 2025, Janalyn was asked to be a guest on Community Records, a podcast by One City Peterborough, a local not for profit organization. Community Records is promoted as being "a space for real conversations about community - its challenges, its resilience, and the voices that shape it".
We know that money can be a big barrier to therapy for some individuals. That's why the Support Station uses a sliding scale to determine service fees for qualified clients based on their financial situation. Our aim is to ensure that cost does not prevent anyone from accessing the mental health care they need.
